OceanLife Festival (OLF) is dedicated to making positive change for our blue planet. We exist to deepen the connection between human and ocean.

We are the only festival of its kind - donating 100% of the funds we raise through ticket sales for the Fremantle Underwater Film Festival to marine biodiversity conservation projects.

We gift our time and energy to advocate for ocean health. Building a safe and sustainable relationship with the ocean is important to us. We protect and conserve marine biodiversity, restore ocean ecosystems and work to reduce our footprint on the earth.

Founder & Director

Tania Douthwaite

Ocean health advocate and avid freediver. Tania teaches freediving and yoga as contemplative practices with Blueback Freediving & Yoga. She founded the not-for-profit Fremantle Underwater Film Festival in 2014. She works in various roles as a marine scientist and safety specialist, public speaker, ocean educator and creative artist.

Joel Evans

From Naarm - Melbourne but now calling Walyalup - Fremantle home, Joel is the Community Program Officer at the Fremantle Library.

Graduating from Deakin University with a Degree in Contemporary Arts, Joel was a freelance actor for a number of years, returning to study he completed his Diploma of Education at Melbourne University, and then his Masters of Education. Joel was the Outreach Coordinator at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Before moving West Joel was the first Senior Performing Arts Programmer at a new Arts Centre in Melbourne’s south-east called Bunjil Place.

Event and Social Manager, Youth Ambassador

Jas Schipper

Jas is a passionate ocean lover she has, for a long time, loved the ocean and everything naturally associated with it. Jas is the Event and Social Media Manager and a Youth Ambassador at OceanLife Festival. She is the Co-Curator and Youth Ambassador at Fremantle Underwater Film Festival.

Jas' pronouns are She/ Her. She lives on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar.
